During her childhood, the New Yorker Josephine Esther Mentzer was nicknamed Esty by her relatives. In 1930, and after having transformed her diminutive into Estée, she became Estée Lauder for everyone. In 1946, she launched, with her husband Joseph, 4 beauty care products. They simply chose the surname of the young woman as the brand name. Two years later, in 1948, an Estée Lauder corner was set up in the famous Saks Fith Avenue store, on 5th Avenue in New York.

Since that date, the brand has experienced rapid international expansion, and continues to stand out for its innovative formulas and the excellence of its skincare products, make-up and perfumes. For Estée Lauder, perfume is a work of art just like a masterpiece, a musical workor a collector's item. A perfume is the concrete and technical realization of a vision, a sensation or an emotion.  Estée Lauder fragrances combine a variety of rare and precious components to create unique perfumes. Each perfume has its own story, emotion, inspiration and personality. The Estée Lauder brand remains today nourished by the pioneering vision of its founder: a story of passion, daring and beauty.
