At just five years old, she moved with her family to the Guerlain Mansion, surrounded by a living legacy of olfactory artistry. Growing up amid exquisite bottles and the magic of scent, Patricia absorbed the traditions of perfumery while awakening her unique creative vision.

Graduating from ISIPCA in Versailles in 1981, Patricia combined scientific precision with a refined intuition, laying the foundation for her future as one of the world’s most innovative perfumers. In 1989, with the support of her husband Jean-Louis Michau, she became the first female perfumer to found her own house: Nicolai Parfumeur-Créateur. From its first boutique on Avenue Raymond Poincaré to its international presence today, Nicolai has remained a family-run, independent house devoted to creativity, quality, and the art of fragrance.

Patricia’s approach is both instinctive and exacting. She personally selects the finest natural and synthetic essences — Indonesian patchouli, Cambodian oud, and Turkish rose among them — ensuring each creation is expressive, elegant, and unmistakably Nicolai. Every fragrance is conceived in her Parisian laboratory, blended with care, macerated to perfection, and then filled and sealed by hand in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, preserving the authenticity of the Maison’s style.
