A Creator Between Gastronomy and Perfumery
Born in Morocco and raised in the South of France, Gérald Ghislain grew up immersed in the scents of the Mediterranean. His first creative language was not perfume, but gastronomy—learning early how to balance, contrast, and elevate raw materials.
Before entering perfumery, he became a restaurateur in Paris, opening his first restaurant at just 22 years old. By the late 1990s, he was successfully running two establishments while continuing to cultivate a deeper creative ambition: perfumery.
For Ghislain, cooking and perfumery share the same essence—both transform nature into emotion, and both are ultimately acts of sharing.
The Birth of Histoires de Parfums
In 2000, after training at ISIPCA, the prestigious French school of perfumery, Ghislain founded Histoires de Parfums at a time when niche perfumery was still emerging.
The concept was radical in its simplicity:

Each fragrance tells a story—of a historical figure, a mythical year, a poem, a place, or a musical reference. Rather than following trends, the brand follows imagination.

Olibanum – A New Chapter
In 2022, following a period of introspection during global lockdowns, Gérald Ghislain launched Olibanum, a more conscious and essential expression of his vision.
If Histoires de Parfums is narrative and expressive, Olibanum is distilled and intentional.
Built around principles of simplicity, environmental awareness, and responsible sourcing, Olibanum reflects a more grounded philosophy—what Ghislain calls “raisonnable” rather than strictly “sustainable.”
It is perfumery reduced to its essence: clear, combinable compositions made with respect for both nature and communities.

Today, Gérald Ghislain continues to evolve between Paris, Marbella, and New York, driven by curiosity, travel, and human encounter. Now approaching a new chapter in the United States, he continues to refine the balance between creative excess and responsible creation.
