In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel asked perfumer Ernest Beaux to create “a woman’s perfume with a woman’s scent” — something rare and powerful. From a series of samples, Mademoiselle selected the fifth — and CHANEL N°5 was born. Its visionary composition made unprecedented use of aldehydes, giving it a unique, abstract character that revolutionized perfumery.

For this trailblazing scent, she chose a bottle with a strikingly minimalist design: a clear rectangular form, adorned with a simple white label and crowned with a faceted cabochon cap.

In 1986, CHANEL perfumer Jacques Polge reimagined the original parfum to create a fuller, more luminous interpretation: CHANEL N°5 Eau de Parfum.

This Eau de Parfum draws inspiration from the original parfum and features the same floral aldehyde signature. At its heart is a lush bouquet of May Rose and Jasmine, illuminated by sparkling citrus top notes. Aldehydes lend the fragrance its distinctive radiance, while a smooth hint of vanilla leaves behind an irresistibly sensual trail.
